Collision Leaves Two Dead

September 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Two cars collided leaving two people dead and one injured on US 70 earlier this week.  Thomas and Debra Caverly were driving home, when a young 19 year old girl, Ashley Schaub hit their car.  The Caverly’s car flipped onto the guard rail, while Schaub’s car then pinned them inside.

According to local citizen, they tried to help the victims of the car crash, but the Caverly’s seem to have died on impact.  Schuab is listed as being in stable condition after being taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital, and is thought to make a full recovery.

Traffic was held up for a little less than an hour as crews removed the victims from the scene, and the State Patrol removed the damaged cars.  Investigations into the cause of the accident are still being held.

Wisconsin’s Deadly Driving Roads

September 8th, 2008 · No Comments

The Wisconsin State Government has reported that this August has been the worst month for car accident fatalities this year.  The State people say that over 80 people died, versus only 60 when compared to August last year.  Unfortunately, the report also states that August broke a 10 month record over lower traffic fatalities overall.

However, Wisconsin’s roads are safer than last year.  Even with Augusts’ rise in fatalities, accidents are down 20%, with 400 people killed this year,

The best way to prevent accidents is to drive safely.  Encourage your children and other passengers to wear seat belts whenever driving in a vehicle.  Drink responsibly, and have a designated driver whenever you plan to drink.

Bush Signs Toy Ban Law

August 15th, 2008 · No Comments

In addition to the ban, the new law bolsters the reach and authority of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.  The legislation expands the commission’s role in monitoring the safety of consumer products, especially those intended for kids.

Phthalates are chemicals that make vinly more flexible.  These chemicals are used in several children’s and baby products like teething rings and bath toys.  They have been linked to reproductive damage.
